Summer Stuff

This has been a busy summer for us at home. I’m teaching two classes for summer school which keeps me busy during the day till 3:00. It almost feels like being a normal teacher that doesn’t coach two sports and teach night school. I get to come home at 3:30 instead of 7:00 at night. Weird!

Kevin had swim lessons with mommy. There are some fun pictures on Catherine’s blog that show Kevin jumping off the diving board. He’s my little dare devil. Now he asks every day to go swimming so we’ve used his little blow up pool a few times in the back yard.

This weekend is the beginning of the Wardle family vacation as well. Saunya, my big sister, is coming in town with her family. She hasn’t seen our house in over two years, and that was a 6 hour rest stop for them on their way to Oregon.  Then we’re heading to a cabin with my entire side of the family (all 36 of us) from my parents down.  We’re going to spend an entire week there just playing around. It should be lots of fun.

Finally we’re still trying to sell our home here in Idaho (anyone interested?) so we can move to Oklahoma. One way or another we’re going, but it would be nice to get this one sold and move in directly to a house out there instead of having to rent.  With the housing market like it is, not too many people are looking but two came through in the last few days so hopefully someone will put an offer on it soon.

Oklahoma is going to be interesting. When are we moving? I don’t know! Where are we moving? I don’t know. I do know classes begin August 18th, so I’d better figure all this out, and soon. Catherine and I are still really excited to go to Oklahoma and do my degree.  It’s all the detail stuff we’re not sure about. Wish us luck!

Kite Time!

Today I put together a kite that Amber, one of my friends gave us for a wedding gift 5 years ago.  It was part of a big bucket of fun little toys and coloring books.  Today was fairly windy so I finally put the kite together (a Monarch butterfly) and then brought Kevin out to fly it. He’d never flown a kite before so he had a blast. He kept telling me, “Daddy, the butterfly is flying!”. He even flew it himself a few times. He did great but wanted to let all the string out, let go of the string, or run towards the butterfly. I’ve got to get that kid into a physics class! Catherine wanted to fly the kite too so there’s one of her as well. Anyway, here are some pictures!

Up, up and away! Mommy’s turn!

Campout

Our ward had a father and sons campout a couple of weeks ago but Kevin and I couldn’t make it because we had some other stuff going on those two days.  Instead, Catherine and I picked up a little fire pit, and Kevin and I camped out in the back yard. It was a blast. First we cooked hot dogs and smores (we even let Mom have some). Then Catherine made us peach cobbler in our dutch oven. It was all really good.  Kevin had a blast playing in the tent. He even fell asleep holding on to the flashlight that wouldn’t let me shut off while he was awake. He are some pics Catherine took while we were playing!
